Question to other Webmasters: What's your take on overoptimization? Is there a possibility that you might have overoptimized at one time and saw your rankings go the other way you'd have liked them to? My thought is that, I think, once your site strong at the SEs, then if it ever shows weakeness, it could be penalized. I don't think it's the overoptimization that is bad, it's the lack of overoptimization after the overoptimization starts. The best way to avoid an overoptimization penalty is to just keep doing SEO work with effort. I do know this, when a webmaster has many high quality sites with crosslinks to his other sites, he will stay at the top with continuous updates and an increase in new backlinks.

A New SEO Secret Last month, I just learned that unnatural backlinks are a big penalty at Google. It looks to be based on penalizing those webmasters who abuse the acquiring of new backlinks. What do to about this penalty: Fix the parts of your old backlinks that are too unnatural and Request a reconsideration at Google Webmaster tools, or just wait.
